Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade are school years between elementary school and high school, commonly called middle school. Middle school is a time of transitions for kids: new friends as elementary schools merge to one middle school, new daily schedules and class changes, new responsibility and accountability for assignments and studies, new independence with less parental involvement, and new fears and insecurities about a new environment.
